Race kits
All entries received before close of business Friday, 9 July 2010 will have a race kit mailed to them. Those who enter after this time will need to collect their race kit on the morning of the event.
Race kits include: IPICO timing tag, race number and participant instructions. They will commence to be sent from Wednesday, 16 June, 2010.
Each entrant will receive their own individual race kit. If you entered a number of people at the same address then each person will be mailed their own race kit. Race kits may arrive on different days, even if you entered a group of participants at the same time.
If you purchased merchandise, this will be mailed separately to the race kit.
Race numbers
All runners and walkers need to pin your event bib number to the front of your top before arriving at the event. Event bib numbers will be colour coded according to the event you are in.
- Half Marathon - Yellow bib number
- 10km - Red bib number

5km - Blue bib number
Timing tags
Run Melbourne, presented by The Age will be timed using the IPICO Sports timing tag system.
All entrants will receive a timing tag and two twist ties in their race kit. The timing tag should be attached to your shoelace with the twist tie provided, so that your time can be recorded.
Your time will not be recorded if you tie the tag anywhere on your body or clothing including wrist or ankle, it must be attached to your shoe. A tag that is improperly attached may fall off or fail to record your time. Please note that you are responsible for the timing tag until it has been returned to the event organiser. A lost or stolen tag is your responsibility.
Please notify the event organiser if you change the event you have entered.
Your results will be produced by net time. The timing tag will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. You will be asked to return your timing tag once you have crossed the finish line.
Timing tags not returned will incur a $50 replacement charge. If you are unable to participate on the day or accidentally keep the tag please ensure that you return the tag by Friday, 30 July, 2010 to:

Finishers medals
All participants who complete their event will be presented with a medal once they have crossed the finish line.

Wave starts
Because of the large number of participants expected and to ensure your safety, all events will be sent off in waves. The waves will be determined by your expected finish time. You will assemble into these groups at the start line and we request that you stay in these groups. The times listed below refer to the expected time to complete the course.

Assembly area
Is located at Federation Square, Melbourne (Melway Ref: 2F H5). Please arrive at the assembly area at least 45 minutes before your event.
Start area
The half marathon, 10km run and 5km run/walk will start at the intersection of St Kilda Road and Linlithgow Avenue.
Finish area
Is located within Birrarung Marr, adjacent to Federation Square.
Getting there
Car parking
Car parking is extremely limited. It is strongly recommended you use public transport to get to the event.
1) Arts Centre open 24hrs for a flat rate $12
2) Southgate (access from City Road or Southgate Avenue) open 24hrs for a flat rate of $8
3) Federation Square from 8am for a flat rate of $12
Please adhere to parking restrictions if parking on the streets.
Public transport
Train - Disembark at Flinders Street Station and take the Swanston St exit from station and turn right.
Tram - Disembark at corner Flinders St and Swanston St.

Bicycle parking will be available at the event.
Clothing storage
The storage of your clothing during the run/walk will be located at Federation Square.
To minimise time in queues, we have provided a tear-off strip attached to your race number that can be looped around your back pack or attached to a plastic bag provided on race day.
Please do not place any valuables in the clothing bags. We cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.
Toilets
Are clearly signed and located at River Terrace, the finish line and on the course.
Split times
The timing system will record the following split times;
- Half marathon run - 5km, 10km and 15km

Health recommendation/safety
• Ensure you are fit to participate and seek medical advice if unsure.
• Make sure you are hydrated prior to and during the event
• Be aware that you are a pedestrian on public roads and please follow instructions from race officials and marshals.
Wheelchair athletes
We request that all wheelchair athletes in the 5km, 10km and half-marathon events, enter before Friday, 2 July. This is to ensure that event organisers can safely accomodate all wheelchair athletes on the course.
POST-EVENT
Presentation ceremonies
Will take place from the main stage at Federation Square following the completion of each event.
Trophies will be awarded to the male and female winners of the half marathon, 10km run and 5km run events.
Age categories winners will receive a medal however these will be posted out after the event.
The age categories are:
U15, U18, 18 - 29 years, 30 - 39 years, 40 - 49 years, 50 - 59 years, 60 - 69 years & 70 +.
The walk is a non-competitive event so no place prizes will be awarded.
Results and certificates
Results will be printed in The Age newspaper on Tuesday, 20 July 2010. Results will also be available on our website at 10am on Wednesday, 21 July 2010.
