Fight MND

I’m Running For My Sister

Ange decided to join Team FightMND in Run Melbourne last year, after her sister Jane was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The disease hit Jane hard and fast and Jane soon succumbed to being in a wheelchair. The sisters planned to complete the run together with Ange running and pushing Jane in her wheelchair. The sisters garnered support from everyone they knew and organised lots of fundraising events, including a trivia night and an 80s aerobics challenge.

Just days before Run Melbourne, Jane passed away from MND. Ange didn’t give up. She was a true champion and ran 21.1 kilometres to the finish line and wore her sister’s ring on her finger. Ange raised close to $100,000. for FightMND with the hope of finding a cure for MND. Ange was a FightMND champion for us in 2018 and is a FightMND champion again in 2021.

Johnno’s Run

I’m Running For My Community

Raising money for Johnno’s Run and participating in Run Melbourne is one of the highlights of my year. It’s great to be involved in Johnno’s Run and helping Community Living and Respite Services. It’s amazing to have an impact on our local Echuca/Moama community by raising funds to help people living with a disability.

Over the last 5 years, we’ve raised enough money to build a house to support people living with a disability and it’s a humbling feeling when driving or running past that brand new house knowing you played a small part in helping it come together.

Run Melbourne is a special day for us, seeing all the Echuca/Moama residents down in the big city, exercising together and raising money for a great cause gives you an amazing sense of community.

SIDS and SUDC

I’m Running For My Daughter

In 2013, our 15-month old daughter passed away in her sleep. Our lives changed forever on that day.

Three months later, my husband Steve came up with the idea that he might start running and try to complete a Half Marathon. He hadn’t run for years. He reached out to some friends – and quickly, Team Sylvie Sunshine was born and about 250 people had signed up.

Running helped Steve mentally, physically and emotionally. It was his time with Sylvie – his meditation.

Our mission is to raise awareness for SIDS and SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood). Training for and participating in Run Melbourne helped us get through our first devastating year without our Sylvie. Since 2014, we have raised over $150,000 for Red Nose.
