Run Melbourne Postponement Options

Following on from the announcement on 20/07/21, here are the next steps for your Run Melbourne 2021 entry.

Option 1: Rollover my entry to 2022, no further action is required at this time.*

Option 2: Transfer my entry to Sandy Point Half Marathon - 28 November 2021, register your entry here.*

Option 3: I would like a credit note, valid for 12 months to use towards an upcoming Sole Motive event, apply for a credit note here.*

Terms & Conditions
*Option 1 any add ons you purchased with your 2021 Run Melbourne entry (i.e. itabs, SMS or postage) will roll over to your 2022 entry.
*Option 2 there will be no fee for this transfer. If you previously purchased any add ons (i.e. itab, SMS or postage) do not choose these again, they will be automatically brought across to your SPHM entry.
*​Option 3 please apply for the credit note no later than 5pm, Friday 13 August, to avoid a $10 admin fee.

 

You can also run virtually with us from 24 July to 1 August at no additional costs.

Registrations

Minimum age for events

Half Marathon age = 16 years + on race day
10K age = *12 years + on race day
5K age = *8 years + on race day
*Under this age group must accompanied by an adult.

Names on bibs

If you register for the event before 11:59pm Sunday, 30 May 2021 you first name will be printed on your race bib.

I have a toddler, do they have to pay?

Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons you will be required to provide details in the registration process.

When do registrations close?

Early Bird Entries End at 11:59pm Thursday, 27 May 2021
Standard Entries End 11:59pm Thursday, 24 June 2021 

*Last Minute/Online Entries End 11:59pm Friday, 23 July 2021 

*No portion of the entry fee will be donated to charity. Entry fees are used to cover the cost of staging the event. 

I’m having trouble entering – what do I do?
I can no longer participate – what happens now?

You don’t have to notify Sole Motive (the organiser) if you are unable to run for any reason. However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers.

We do offer the following:

1. Withdrawal from the event: Withdrawals receive a credit note if they are made before 5:00pm, Friday 25 June 2021.  After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing and valid for Sole Motive owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Refunds will not be issued. When an entrant registers, they agree to the below terms and conditions;

T&C #15. I agree that there are no refunds, however, I may request a credit note for other SM owned events (minus $10 for admin fees) no later than 5pm, one month prior to the event. After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes will not be issued when downgrading distances. Credit notes will be valid for SM owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing.

  1. Downgrade from your race:  Event downgrades can be made online up until Thursday, 22nd July 2021. Use this link.

Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance. 

Please note: Any changes to your registration (name, distance, postage) will incur a $10 administration fee.

I’ve already registered but I want to join a team

If you wish to join a team, you can do through your registration link.

I accidentally entered the wrong details on my registration – how do I fix this?
  • If you need to update your details you can do so via Register Now.

  • Please log in and click the cogwheel within your Run Melbourne registration, then click ‘My Registration’. On the next page, click ‘Edit’, update your details and then click ‘Save’.

I have lost or never received my confirmation email, can I have it resent?

Please ensure you have checked your junk/spam folder for your confirmation email (e-ticket). If you can still not locate it, you can log via Register Now and choose to resend your registration email.

Can my friend take my entry if I can no longer participate?

There is a $10 admin fee to transfer your entry into someone else’s name. Please email runmelbourne@solemotive.com.

Can I register at the event?

You can register on race weekend from Saturday 24th July through to Sunday, 25 July. More details to come.

How do I upgrade/downgrade my race?

Event upgrades/downgrades can be made online up until Thursday, 22 July 2021. Use this link

Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance.

If you change your distance then you can use your existing race bib for your new distance.

Race Packs

Race pack postage

Race pack postage ends 11:59pm, July 8 2021.

*Optional race pack postage fee of $8.95, or free collection from the Sole Motive Store or from the event site on race weekend.

Race pack collection

Your Race Pack will be available for collection from the Sole Motive Store (170 Queen Street, Melbourne) from 12 midday Monday, 12 July 2021 until 6:00pm Thursday, 22 July.

Where can I collect my Race Pack on Race Weekend?

If you can’t pick up your Race Pack from the Sole Motive Store you can collect it on Saturday 24th of July from 8am -4pm River Terrace, Fed Square. 

Merchandise postage

All merchandise ordered before 11:59pm July 8 will be mailed out.  

All merchandise ordered after 11:59pm July 8 can be collected from:

Sole Motive Retail 170 Queen St Melbourne

Midday July 12th until 6pm July 22nd

OR

Sole Motive Retail, River Terrace, Federation Square

8am to 5pm - July 24th

5:45am to 12pm - July 25th

Sizes will not be restocked once they have sold out.

 

Run Melbourne 2020 Entrants

I entered Run Melbourne 2020, what do I do?

All 2020 entrants will be transferred into 2021. You will receive an email by 16/04/21  with more detailed information on how you can  make any updates or changes to your Run Melbourne 2021 entry. There’s nothing more you need to do at this stage.

COVID - 19 Event Information

COVID-Safe Event Update - 9 July

We have incorporated the below measures to make the event safe as possible for all involved.

  • All participants to use the Service Victoria app to scan Run Melbourne Event QR code.
  • To promote social distancing there will be no warm ups, presentations or pace groups. All distances will have rolling starts.
  • As per current government guidelines on fask masks, when out in public, you are required to carry a fask mask and it is recommended that you wear a face mask when you cannot maintain a 1.5 metre distance from others.
  • When traveling via public transport, register Myki card in order to assist with contact tracing. Details found through here.

You will still be able to enjoy the entertainment on course as well as self serve drink stations supported by our Volunteers. As well as the Run Melbourne post run recovery area that includes refreshments, medal collection and massage for participants.

COVID-19 Registrations Terms

If the event is postponed: Registered participants for events that are postponed due to COVID-19 by the state or local health authorities are automatically transferred to the rescheduled date. For those that the new date does not work, we will allow deferrals to the event in the following year.

If the event is cancelled: Registered participants for events that are cancelled due to COVID-19 by the state or local health authorities, participants will have the options of either; Transfer to another Sole Motive race within the next 12 months, or refund of your Registration Fees minus administration fee of $20. Please note, merchant booking fees on the online transaction are non-refundable.

If travel restrictions are in place or you are awaiting a COVID test: In the event of border restrictions affecting registered participants outside of Melbourne at the time of the event, we will provide options including transferring to the following year.

How do I get to the event?

We strongly recommend catching public transport to and from the event. Half Marathon runners may have access to public transport using the night network to get to the event. View the Night Network Fact Sheet or visit the PTV Night Network website.

Road Closures

Road closures will be announced closer to the Race Week.

Car Parking Do’s and Don’ts

Car parking is extremely limited. We strongly recommend you use public transport to get to the event. If you’re driving please plan your route and parking location prior to the event.

If you are planning on driving, we recommend the following:

There are several non-ticketed parking areas on Sundays, however, these will fill quickly from 6:00 am:

  • Alexandra Avenue (between Punt Rd and Morell Bridge)

Once you find a park, along the Yarra and make your way to Birrarung Marr or Federation Square, please allow at least 10 minute’s walking time to get to the event site.

  • Fitzroy Gardens (Wellington Parade /Lansdowne St/Albert St/Clarendon St (city side only)

Once you find a park, walk to Wellington Parade Sth/Jolimont Terrace and continue down Flinders St to Federation Sq.

  • St Kilda Rd (Southbound lanes only North of Toorak Rd)

Once you find a park, walk along St Kilda Rd towards Federation Sq. Please allow at least 10-20 minutes walking time to get to the event site.

Paid Car Parks available:

  • Arts Centre – access via South Bank Boulevard
  • Federation Square Carpark – access via Russell St Extension.
  • City Carparks

DO NOT PARK:

  • Around the Botanical Gardens
  • St Kilda Rd – Northbound Lanes
  • MCG carparks are not open
  • Boathouse Drive
Bag drop information

Bag drop is available in the Amphitheatre Federation Square (inbetween ACMI and Swantson St, on Flinders St). Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Run Melbourne accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Attach the tear-off strip on the bottom of your race bib to your bag.

Keep your race bib so that you can collect your bag post-event.

Please note, no single-use plastics.

Medals

All participants will receive a branded Run Melbourne medal for their chosen distance.

On Course

Start line & waves

Please refer to your distance page for information on start lines and your allocated Wave Start Zone.

Please note: Wave Start Zones will be indicated by coloured feathers in place at the start line to ensure a smooth start for all participants. Entrants are asked to assemble in the appropriate zone as indicated by the letter printed on their race bib.

What are the course cut-off times?

Start line closes for all events 11:10am. Refer to event pages for race cut off time.

Finish Line closes 11:30am

*Any participant who does not get to the corner of Batman Ave and Flinders st by 11.25am will be moved onto footpath.

Half Marathon 17km by 10:15am - Crossing Toorak Rd Faulkner Park (12mins per km pace)

10km by 10:15am - Crossing Toorak Rd Faulkner Park (12mins per km pace)

5.5km by 10:15am - Crossing Toorak Rd Faulkner Park (12mins per km pace)

Toilet, drink & first-aid locations

TOILET / DRINK & FIRST-AID LOCATIONS:

You will be able to find toilets in the following locations pre-event:

Along the route to Event Village:

  • Birrarung Marr, Artplay Silver Bullet
  • Birrarung Marr, Speakers Corner (Batman Ave)
  • Queen Victoria Gardens, Linlithgow Ave Silver Bullet
  • Alexandra Gardens Skatepark

Inside the Event Village:

  • Federation Square – Public Toilets open from 6:00am

Can I run with headphones?

We strongly discourage the use of headphones on the course. If you do choose to use headphones while running, please ensure that you are still able to hear what is happening around you.

Can I have a supporter ride a bike next to me?

No personal support riders or bike riders within the vicinity of runners are permitted on course. It is the responsibility of each athlete while running to ensure that no bikes are on the course near the runners. Any transgression will result in disqualification from the event.

Can I fly a personal drone on course?

The use of any type of drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is prohibited at the Event. Any person using a drone or UAV may be disqualified from the Event.

Can I run with a pram?

Prams are permitted in all events – please start at the back of your wave for safety reasons.

Can I run as a support person for someone who needs assistance?

If you are running to lend a helping hand to someone who is unable to run without you, then please contact Sole Motive on (03) 9285 0600 or runmelbourne@solemotive.com.

Can I run with my dog?

All animals are strictly prohibited from entering any part of the course at any time.

Results

How will I be timed on day?

All runners in the Half-Marathon, the 10k and 5k races will be timed. If you wish to receive a finishing time all Run Melbourne participants must wear their RACE BIB. Your Race Bib contains a disposable timing chip, if you don’t wear your bib, you won’t receive an official time.

Please wear your race bib on the front of your top and ensure it is visible.

Where can I find my results?

Live results will be available online from www.runmelbourne.com.au

Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results and have paid an additional $2 will receive their results SMS on the evening of the event, and finishers will receive a certificate via email.

What is net time?

Net time is the time the participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, and will be used to award aged category places. These times are for participant information only and are not used to determine place getters. Placegetters are determined by gun time – the first three male and females across the finish line.

Trophies/Prizes

Top 3 male and female overall winners will receive a trophy and prize (TBC). Winner’s are presented off gun time, you must be in the priority wave to be eligible.
